Major webtoon digital publishers have experienced soaring growth, across the board, following the pandemic. That is according to a Forbes article by Rob Salkowitz(an internationally-recognized expert in the intersection of digital media and social). Salkowitz points out that that the success of manga and vertical-scrolling digital comics has spurred on the desire to venture into bringing book titles to bookshelves

Webtoon is expanding its print operations, pioneering manga publisher TokyoPop is launching a new romance-oriented lineup, and DC Comics is expanding its partnership with Kodansha.

Will the mega manga an webtoon publishers have the same level of success with books? That is tough to predict. But if the recent partnerships between traditional publishers and the new comic digital platforms are anything to go by, this trend bears watching.
